1st Young Friends of the Earth Cyprus BaseCamp

The first Summer Camp of FoE Cyprus was successfully completed in July 2016. The Basecamp took place at Troodos Camping site on the 22-24th of July, with the participation of 27 young people.

The purpose of the Basecamp was to share the work and activities of FoE Cyprus with volunteers and participants joining our camp, to provide opportunity for our members to get to know each other and learn from each other’s experiences, to inspire people to get involved with our organisation, and to bring friendships to a whole new level in the Young FoE Cyprus family. All this were coupled with natural environment, walking on nature trails, yoga classes and team building games, making it a relaxed and educational activity for everyone.

FoE Cyprus held workshops on non violent activism and the reclaiming of our commons, and held discussions on activities that took place on issues such as climate change, forests and biodiversity, resources and consumption and food and agriculture. We held discussions on the recent forest fires in the area and young people expressed new and fresh ideas on possible activities and actions for the next few months.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to the firsh Young FoE Cyprus Basecamp 2016 and made it such an incredible experience. This was a flagship event for what we aim to be an annual occurrence for Young FoE Cyprus and we will continue supporting and encouraging young people.
