Ulex training: A recent participant’s testimonial

Michalis Pantelidis testimonial from Ulex Project training

Friends of the Earth Cyprus, in collaboration with Ulex Project, offer exclusive training opportunities in Catalonia, Spain to our organisation’s volunteers, people who identify as activists (or not), and individuals who resonate with our core values. These fully funded trainings aim at capacity building covering a range of topics that result in a personal and collective empowerment.

The trainings are organised by Ulex Project, which provides high-quality non-formal education trainings for change makers using a systemic approach for social justice solutions and ecological integrity.

We are excited to share our volunteer Michalis’ testimonial from his recent experience in the Ulex training course.

Michalis, our volunteer since 2023 has a background in slow and ethical fashion while using sustainable practices in his textile work, utilising waste into fabric. Michalis participated in the Active Solidarity and Empowerment training in Eroles last month. Here’s what he had to say about his experience in an activist training:

”I feel grateful for participating in the ‘’Active Solidarity’’ training course organised by Ulex Project in collaboration with Friends of the Earth Cyprus in Eroles, Catalonia. The training in Eroles made me realise the personal and individual responsibility I have as part of a team and a community, and how my actions and my perspective can positively or negatively affect other members of the team. The training provided me with many tools that I can use to facilitate a safe space in group settings, where each and every member can express themselves and actively participate. The experience in Eroles village was unique, since I spent quality time with my team members, analysing our behaviour, and actions, and exchanging life experiences. We also enjoyed time in nature and we have bonded over that while creating meaningful relationships with the training’s participants.”

Michalis’ testimonial highlights the transformative tools the Ulex equips its participants, and enables them to adopt a better understanding for complex issues, while fostering a safe and inclusive environmental for all. These skills are important for both activists and anyone interested in gaining transferrable soft and emotional intelligence skills.
